Hair transplantation is one of the most performed aesthetic procedures in Turkey and abroad. Hair loss affects millions of men and women around the world and it can be an emotional problem for many people if not treated. Every month, thousands of people come to Turkey for hair transplantation for affordable prices in Turkey, high quality hospitals and talented and experienced plastic surgeons or trichologists. Thanks to advanced technology, there are various successful hair loss treatments both for men and women. Hair transplantation is a surgical technique that involves moving individual hair follicles from one part of the scalp (the donor site) to bald or balding parts (the recipient site). Modern hair transplantation can achieve this through a procedure called Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE). Most people lose hair due to inheritance. Hair loss can also be triggered by medical problems, drugs or infections.

Hair Transplantation Patient Testimonials
Most of the medical tourism companies have best reviews and highest ratings on the Internet. I had always thought it was a bit suspicious. I was concerned regarding the nature of these testimonials until Longevita let me contact one of their previous patients who exactly had the same operation I wanted to have. They offered me a great opportunity to hear about the experiences of a real patient first hand. I got to ask any question I could and this transparent approach of Longevita made me choose them over the others.
G.Y., Hair Transplantation Patient
Prior to booking my hair transplantation surgery in Turkey, I heard that some clinics quoted very low prices just to be able to attract patients. But often times when one actually takes this low price offer, they are usually faced with another bill for medication and check up. I wanted to make sure that there were no last minute surprises like this. Longevita delivered exactly what was promised. The price I was quoted was the price I paid and included every little detail such as blood test and after care medication. Even the shampoo I had to use after surgery was included.
F.R., Hair Transplant Surgery Patient
I would like to say how pleased I was with the whole service you offer from your fantastic guide, hotel and of course the treatment. The care and attention they took over and above exceeded my expectations regarding my hair transplant. Very happy and will be recommending you.

Hair transplantation is a surgical technique that moves individual hair follicles from a part of the body called the ‘donor site’ to bald or balding part of the body known as the ‘recipient site’. The hair on the back and the sides of the scalp are usually permanent. Hair on this area are not affected even in advanced degrees of androgenetic hair loss since follicles in these sites are not subject to the affects of the hormone dihydrotestosterone (DHT). The resistance of individual hair follicles to DHT is a genetic characteristic of the follicles. Therefore this characteristic stays with the follicle even if hair are transplanted from one part of the body to another. Thus, the hair transplanted to a bald area grows successfully in the new location. As hair loss usually occurs due to genetic factors, the success of the hair transplantation procedure depends on the resistance of the donor area to the DHT.
There are two types of hair transplantation techniques that are commonly used:
- Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT)
- Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE)
Treatment Options
- Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT): A strip of scalp is removed under local anaesthesia, the wound is then sutured back together and this piece of scalp tissue is then cut in to small pieces of tissue called grafts which are then transplanted back in to the thinning area of the patient’s head. This method will leave a linear scar in the donor area, which should be covered by patient’s hair (if long). The recovery period is around 2 weeks and will require the stitches to be removed by medical personnel.
- Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE): Individual follicles of hair are removed under local anaesthesia. This micro removal uses tiny punches of between 0.6mm and 1.25mm in diameter. Each follicle is then reinserted back into the scalp in the thinning area using a micro blade. Since individual follicles are removed, almost no scars remain and any post-surgical pain is minimized. On completion of the hair transplantation, the result is natural and virtually undetectable. As no suture removal is required, recovery from FUE is within 7 days.
How it is Performed
Hair transplantation procedure is performed on an outpatient basis, with mild sedation and injected local anaesthesia. Hair transplantation procedures can take from 3–8 hours. Patients are often awake, yet does not feel any pain and very relaxed due to the effect of sedation. There is usually little discomfort during the hair transplantation. Small grafts of skin, holding hair follicles are removed from the areas of the patient’s scalp and moved to the thinning or bald areas. Then grafts are placed into small openings made inside the bald areas with a fine needle, scalpel or other fine instrument. The openings can be made using different instruments such as needle holes, small slits, punch holes or laser made holes. At the end of the hair transplantation, the Longevita partner surgeon checks the final placement of the grafts and provides the postoperative instructions.
Results
The success of hair transplantation depends on how many hair follicles remain healthy after transplantation. The result of hair transplantation surgery is permanent. However it takes about 9 months in order to see final results in some cases it can take up to 18 months. The vulnerable recipient area must be protected from the sun shine. Shampooing is vital to prevent scabs from occurring around the hair shaft. Hair usually fall out after it is transplanted, however new hair will regrow in the transplanted area. It takes a period of time before patient can see the new hair growth.
